We have spent the last couple of weeks in LA getting things sorted for our big trip around America.
Marty got straight to work on the BMW's gearbox while I enjoyed a trip to Sea World in San Diego. Here is one of the rides there. I didn't go on it as my companion Betty is still recovering from all the rides we went on four years earlier at Universal Studios. As she is nearly 80 I think she can be excused for not wanting to get soaked. We had a great day out anyway.
With the gearbox fixed Marty set out to visit an AJ/Matchy man but became a little lost and never found him. He did however travel most of the immediated freeways in and around the LA area and cover 200 odd miles in the process. Proof that he does still need me as a navigator.

We flew up to Montery on Friday, stayed overnight with Rachelle, (my sister) and picked up the camper on Saturday morning. We are more than happy with it - and I guess we will get use to the sound of gas and $'s being sucked up.
It was a 9hr drive back down to LA. I found it a bit nerve racking on the freeway, sitting in the passenger seat (drivers if I was home) and no steering wheel. But my driver wasn't too bad and apart from being reversed into, (the van that is, not me) in the first gas station we stopped in we made it back ok.
Yesterday we drove to Pendleton Military base to pick up a bike trailer. It is just north of San Diego, right on the beach. It covers about 200 thousand acres and over 100 thousand live there. Makes Katikati look very small. The couple we bought the bike off have invited us to visit when they move to Lake Tahoe in Northern California early next month and promised us some good motorcycling with them if we do.
While getting the lights working on the trailer Marty has found a new problem with the brake master cylinder so is now trying to find somewhere where we can get the necessary part. I think we need an American/English dictionary as so many things have different names here. My german/english dictionary is not much help!
That's it for now

OK, so I finally worked out which one was Marty by the shorts and jandals but you HAVE to get a photo of them side by side. It's uncanny!
Watch this space......
Sounds good.Looking forward to following your exploits.

Hey I wish my parents the greatest trip in the world! have a lot of fun, and listen to heavy metal.
Love matt,
Ps Hi to any friends and family that read this Blog!
Matt! I saw you!!!! PA was in the garage and missed, he was gutted. It's OK Chris, rest assured your boy looked hot.
Igor is now back up and running. He had his inaugral test ride today. There was a small hiccup as PA had forgotten to remove a screw he'd jammed in the flywheel to stop it moving during 'the operation' but once removed and P had got his heart rate back to normal and changed his pants we were away laughing. We're planning to go up to BOP Queen's B'day weekend and will go see Geoff and Dawn then. Have Fun! Trish and PA :)
Wild Hewletts on the loose in America! What fun. I wish I had stowed away in the back like I had originally planned! By the way, Chris, I am extremely pissed that you sent Matt that chopper photo (you know, the one where I looked like a hyena?) It IS a DIGITAL camera and there is a D-E-L-E-T-E button. You could have taken another, without doubt better one. No worries though, I have some time to think of a good way to get even...hmmmmm. Hi boys, hope you are behaving while mum's away! Listened to Matt's band on the net, even though heavy metal hurts my teeth. Need to hear from Mike since it has been so long. I hear you are a "southern" boy now, yeehaw y'all. Love to all! Brandy
Hi Mart and Chris! Hope you're having a great time! Age taped Matt and his band on TV the other night. Nick and Matt had quite a bit of air time! Cool! Tony shot a 62 at Horsham Downs Golf course recently - he wished his bro's could've seen it! Tony had a week away in Wellington on a training course. Age and Nick STAYED HOME!!!
Marty & Christopher look like twins! We Couldn't tell at first!!hahaha All the best xoxo
