Slow Start

Maree and I arrived in LA Tuesday afternoon to news that my bike was still not operational and departure may be delayed. Bummer. Well it's now Friday and we seem no closer despite Marty working all day everyday on the job. One step forward two back.

To fill in time for the first day Maree and I have visited the local Mall and got our phones sorted, been shoe shopping and slept.

Yesterday we took the train to San Diego. Seems this trip is not meant to go smoothly. We missed the train by 2mins and had to sit around for an hour waiting for the next one. Was a lovely ride down along the coast. The sea being dotted with swimmers and surfers.

We arrived in Old Town San Diego about 1pm so first stop was for lunch.
We choose the Coloniel Hotel. A beautiful old building half adobe half American in design.

Had a srumptious lunch in the courtyard where we got to meet the First Lady of San Diego.

As we were time limited we decided to take a two hour trolley bus tour of San Diego. The highlight was the drive over the Coronado Bridge to Coronado Island. The tour itself was great and we got a great overview of the citys attractions and learnt a little of the early history. It would be easy to spend a week here ferreting around.

True to form when we got back to the train station we discovered we had missed the train by an hour and there was a 2 hr wait for the next one. We strolled back to Old Town where we plonked ourselves in a bar and enjoyed a Marguritta and a smoothie.

Marty and brother Chris picked us up and we went to a chinese takeaway for tea. The lady has taken a shine to Marty who has been there a few times since he arrived and for $23 we got enough food for a small army. We have a whole large container still to eat!! Tomorrows lunch.

Hopefully tomorrow will bring positive results with the bike. Fingers crossed.

Marty had to visit the bike shop to pick up the parts he odered so we went along for the ride. As it doesnt look like we will be getting out of LA just yet brother Chris took us to Little Saigon for a new cultural experience.

We left Marty has beavering away after lunch and got brother Chis to drop Maree and I at Huntington Beach so we could walk the pier and check out the sights. There were some great ones and some not so great ones but as I probably fall into that category we wont go any further.

Time to relax now with some cheese and crackers.
I've just done two laps of theblock on my bike so looks like tomorrow could be the day.......
