Calgary through Montana

Not much to say about Calgary as Marty and I spent the two days we had there in the bike shop. My bike needed new fork seals and new chain and sprockett. They finished that just after 6pm on the first day so at least we had wheels back to the hotel. Got a bit lost on the way back and when we were assessing the situation we discovered that the front brake hose had split. Had to ride with no front brake but we made it. Maree had a good day sightseeing in Calgary.
Day two and more of the same. We did get to go to a birthday lunch with the staff and share a birthday cake back at the shop. We finally paid our bill and left the shop at 10.30pm. We were very lucky that the owner Dave was willing to stay till Marty's bike was finished as he knew we wanted to get on the road. Despite it all seeming to take a very long time they were all great people and never once did we feel we were a pain in the bum.
As we are about to leave Marty discovered his dip and fullbeam have disappeared. Too bad we are off. What is it with these bikes? We will sort it down the track.
My view of Calgary. The BMW workshop

Maree had another good day sightseeing. She was the only one on her bus tour so they put her into a limo type vehicle and she had a solo tour and was even dropped her off at the hotel.

Lazy start to the day as it was pretty cruisey with onky 300 odd km to ride. Marty was very tired and despite telling me the turnoff south was about 500m from the lights we were sitting he sailed passed it and we went 25 odd miles east before the error was rectified. Stopped for a break in Vulcan which is a bit of a star trek town but I didnt take any pics. No problems crossing the border back into the USA and into Montana. Very flat andboring after the last few weeks. We arrived at our Motel in Shelby about 4.30pm but the guy couldn't find our booking. I looked up Marty's email confirmation and discovered that he had booked us in for Saturday night not Thursday night. Not a problem they can fit us in. Bonus it had a swimming pool so once we unloaded that was the first place we went. Another day down.
The hotel had lots of old movie posters on the walls in the hallway. This one appealed.

Took the pic for son Mike. Lol

Had breaky at the motel then got going. Long straight roads with lots of wheat and barley fields for the first couple of hours.

Once passed Giant Falls the landscape changed and it was quite beautiful.

We spotted this herd of horses along the way. All statues.

Spending the night at Bowsman. Yellowstone tomorrow.
